Northern New England Home Care Conference: Managing Managed Care - The Next Generation

So, you've negotiated what you think are fair rates, and secured contracts with all the major players.  Think you're all set?  Think again!  This program, moderated by Kevin Stone, will address the issues and considerations providers face in their managed care payor relations.  Sherl Brand was the Director of National Accounts for a national homecare company prior to joining the Home Care Association of NJ>  There she was responsible for overall management of company managed care, government and community contracting.  Ms. Brand will discuss best practices in managed care contracting, including determining and negotiating rates for special services; protecting your organization from authorization delays and payment denials; responding to the trend towards national contract templates; and a host of operational concerns.  healthcare attorney Robin Fisk will discuss provider rights in contracting, explaining where protections may exist in legislation, regulatory provisions, and contract law.  Both speakers will address emerging Medicare Advantage Plans and their implications for home health agencies.

Robin Fisk is an attorney who focuses on the legal issues that face the Healthcare industry. With nineteen years’ experience in the health law field, Robin represents health care providers, practitioners, insurers and managed care organizations.

In addition to more general representation on matters such as business formations, leases and employee matters., Robin advises clients on regulatory compliance and and negotiates managed care contracts – for payers and providers.

She is the author of "Managed Care Contracting & Provider Payment" an online column for providers and insurers.

Robin has been in solo practice in New Hampshire since January, 2000. Before striking out on her own, she practiced with the Health Law Departments of Orr and Reno and Ober, Kaler.

Earlier, as in-house counsel to Healthsource, Inc., now CIGNA Healthcare Corporation, Robin supported its Midwest operations, seniors segment products and government program lines of business.
